Miller Bowles Cushing Attorneys Attend 2012 Family Law Section Annual Meeting Hosted by North Carolina Bar Association

Miller Bowles Cushing attorneys Kate Miller, Chris Miller, and Valerie Gefert attended the 2012 Family Law Section Annual Meeting hosted by the North Carolina Bar Association in Charleston, South Carolina. As a part of their efforts to maintain the most up-to-date information surrounding family law matters, the MBL attorneys joined hundreds of other family law practitioners at the continuing legal education courses offered at the annual meeting. Topics of the legal education courses included:

  • International issues
  • Immigration issues
  • Criminal behavior arising out of family law cases
  • The ethical ramifications for lawyers when either our clients or adverse parties play dirty tricks, and
  • Change in the law wrought by our appellate courts.

“Attending the annual NC family law CLE allows us the opportunity to not only strengthen our skills as family law attorneys but also to connect with other family law attorneys from all over North Carolina. In addition to information from the program itself, from each other we gain perspective that we aren’t necessarily exposed to every day, but can hopefully utilize in our own practice,” said Valerie Gefert of her second Family Law Section Annual Meeting.
