Partner Kate Miller Recognized again as Legal "Rising Star"

Miller Bowles Cushing co-founding partner Kate Miller was honored by Super Lawyers as a 2016 Rising Star. This is Kate’s fourth award as a Rising Star, with previous designations in 2012, 2013, and 2015.

Super Lawyers is a rating service conducted by publisher Thompson Reuters. Each year, Super Lawyers honors exceptional attorneys in each State to identify the best in more than 70 different areas of legal practice.

Less than 2.5% of all attorneys in North Carolina are honored as a Rising Star. To be eligible as a Rising Star, a candidate must be 40 years old or younger or have less than 10 years of practice. There is a rigorous screening process which starts with a survey to members of the North Carolina State Bar to nominate other lawyers that exemplify excellence in their particular practices of law. Thompson Reuters next independently researches each nominated lawyer and conducts a peer evaluation by attorneys in the same area of law. Final selection is determined by a cumulative point total of all phases of the nomination, research, and evaluation.

Co-founding partner Chris Miller said, “Another year, another Rising Star award for Kate. We are very proud of her and that her expertise in family law is recognized by other Charlotte area attorneys who nominate and evaluate her for this award.”

Kate is a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Family Law, a distinction shared by less than 275 practitioners in the State. Kate has devoted her entire practice to North Carolina Family Law since licensed in 2007.
