Miller Cushing Holladay and Brett Holladay Honored By Safe Alliance

Safe Alliance Award

The Safe Alliance Legal Representation Project once again awarded Miller Cushing Holladay and associate attorney Brett Holladay with the Commitment to Justice Award at an event on October 11 th to recognize the commitment of firms and individual attorneys that represented victims of domestic violence and sexual assault pro bono, which is at no cost, through their referral program.

This is the 5th consecutive year Miller Cushing Holladay has been honored for the firm’s work with Safe Alliance. Associate attorney Brett Holladay was recognized and honored individually for the 2nd consecutive year for his extraordinary volunteer efforts. Brett, for the second year in a row, represented more Safe Alliance clients than any other attorney in Mecklenburg County.

Safe Alliance, through its Legal Representation Project, strives to promote the highest ideals of professionalism, public service, and access to the legal system by providing free legal representation to victims of domestic violence as they navigate the court system . Safe Alliance has great staff attorneys that represent clients but seeks the assistance of other volunteer attorneys due to the sheer number of victims and cases. The volunteer attorneys at Miller Cushing Holladay such as Brett, investigate a victim’s case, help the victim prepare for trial, and represent the victim at a Review Hearing on Domestic Violence to try and obtain a Domestic Violence Protective Order.

“We are humbled to again be recognized by Safe Alliance and are especially proud of Brett for the work done on behalf of domestic violence victims in the Charlotte area”, said Miller Cushing Holladay partner Chris Miller. “We all, but Brett in particular, volunteer a great deal of time and effort to Safe Alliance and feel strongly that it is the right thing to do so that victims of violence who cannot afford an attorney can get strong representation in court to help keep them safe.”
