MBL, Chris Miller, and Brett Holladay Honored at 2nd Annual Barrister's Ball

The Safe Alliance Legal Representation Project once again awarded Miller Cushing Holladay with the Commitment to Justice Award for its volunteer pro bono work in representation of victims of domestic and sexual violence in Mecklenburg County. Miller Cushing Holladay accepted its award at the Second Annual Barrister’s Ball on April 16, 2015 at the Mint Museum which was hosted by Safe Alliance. Miller Cushing Holladay partner Chris Miller was also honored for the 4th consecutive year and associate attorney Brett Holladay received his 1st award for their individual volunteer pro bono efforts.

Safe Alliance, through its Legal Representation Project, strives to promote the highest ideals of professionalism, public service, and access to the legal system by providing free legal representation to victims of domestic violence as they navigate the court system to obtain Domestic Violence Protective Orders. Last year, Safe Alliance provided over 500 victims of domestic violence and sexual assault free legal representation and over 200 of those cases were handled by pro bono volunteer attorneys. Brett Holladay tied for the most volunteer cases assisted through Safe Alliance for all of 2014.

Partner Chris Miller stated, “It is humbling to be recognized by Safe Alliance, a group that does an outstanding service to our Charlotte community. Many men and women have been able to end violent, harmful relationships with the assistance of Safe Alliance and all of the volunteer attorneys like those at Miller Cushing Holladay.
